For this third K&A Aluminum Brazing/Soldering Conference (which now also includes aluminum SOLDERING!) we will once again be bringing in experienced aluminum brazing/soldering experts to help teach several portions of this unique 2-day program, and a number of major suppliers of products and services to the aluminum brazing will be exhibiting (a listing of vendors will be available in early fall, 2008).
---Ed Patrick of E. P. Patrick & Associates (PA) is one of the foremost experts in aluminum joining today! He has spent many years with Alcoa, developing their joining processes, and is now a full-time consultant in various aspects of aluminum joining. He'll be teaching a number of the sections of this seminar.
---Duke Singleton of Singleton Consulting (Richmond, VA) is another leading expert in aluminum joining, and has also published numerous journal articles on the subject! He spent many years with Reynolds Aluminum, and following his retirement from Reynolds, now enjoys consulting on various aspects of aluminum materials and how to join them (soldering and brazing).
---Dan Kay of Kay & Associates -- Brazing instructor for 35-years, and host/emcee of this seminar, will also be involved with leading several portions of this seminar. Those who have been through any of his past seminars on brazing know about the quality of his teaching and his seminars.
---(Additional speakers will be announced in the days ahead, each one will be an expert in their area of aluminum brazing and/or soldering)---
Seminar -- Oct. 22-23, 2008
(Wednesday and Thursday)
Ramada Inn Airport, Windsor Locks, CT
(For more info about the Ramada Inn, or to make hotel reservations, CLICK HERE.)
This 2-day aluminum brazing/soldering seminar program will cover the many aspects of aluminum brazing and soldering that someone needs to know in order to be able to effectively understand how to properly join aluminum. Guildelines for effectively implementing what you have learned will also be taught. Topics will include the metallurgy of aluminum, how to properly design assemblies for aluminum brazing and soldering (joint designs are often quite different for aluminum than for brazing of other metals), selection of proper filler metals (what form is best -- rings, paste, etc.? -- pros and cons of each), what kind of fluxes are available and which should be used, CAB (controlled atmosphere brazing), the equipment that is needed to successfully braze or solder aluminum, cleaning procedures, proper heating/cooling cycles, and how to correctly address your Quality Assurance concerns for aluminum, to name a few of the topics to be covered.
All forms of aluminum brazing and soldering will be covered. Soldering methods for use in automotive, refrigertion, and HVAC will be discussed. Some of the brazing topics include:
Vacuum furnace brazing VENDOR TABLE-TOP DISPLAYS
A large room will be set-up just outside the main conference room for vendors of aluminum brazing/soldering products and services to set up their table-top displays. (NOTE: Vendors must also register ALL their personnel for the regular seminar. Please note, however, that "Graduates" of our previous aluminum brazing/soldering seminars will be able to register at a deeply reduced rate for the technical-seminars. See info below.) Seminar Reception -- Meet the Vendors!
The seminar will break at 4 PM on the first day of the program, and a special reception time will be held from 4-to-6:30 PM, to allow seminar attendees to meet with vendors in the vendor-display area, for more in-depth discussion opportunities than during the seminar breaks. Refreshments (hors d'oeuvres) and punch will be served. A cash-bar will also be made available by the hotel in the vendor display area.
Exhibitors Listing (Will be announced in months ahead)
Costs for Vendor Display Tables
Each vendor will be offered an 8-foot table for their table-top display (with electrical connection, if needed) at a cost of only $295, IN ADDITION TO the seminar registration cost. ALL vendor personnel will be required to register for the brazing seminar (at same rate and discounts that apply to regular seminar attendees) if they did not attend our aluminum brazing seminar in Oct. 2006. If you are a "graduate" of our previous aluminum brazing/soldering seminars, and you are planning to have a display table at the seminar in Oct. 2008, then the cost of the display-table-only will be $395, IN ADDITION TO a significantly reduced registration fee for the technical sessions. Once again, all second-time attendees are invited to attend the technical sessions, since the exhibitor tables will be closed during the technical sessions.
