hands-on experience in that field. As a respected expert in brazing, Dan has become known worldwide as an excellent
seminar leader, trainer and speaker. He was presented with the Materials Engineering
Institute Instructor of Merit Award by ASM International (Oct. 1998) for "..excellence in
technical expertise, presentation skills, and quality support materials..". He has also
published a number of articles on the subject of brazing in leading journals in the
brazing/welding/heat-treating field, the latest being an article entitled "Controlling Suppliers and Customers: Key to Successful In-House Brazing?" in the November 2004 issue of Industrial Heating magazine. Two other recent articles were "Honeycomb-Brazing Essentials for Successful Use As Turbine Seals" in the November 2003 issue of Industrial Heating magazine, and an
article entitled "Fillets in Brazing: Good or Bad?" in the October 2003 issue of The Welding Journal, published by AWS .
He is also responsbile for the revised chapter on honeycomb brazing (Chapter 34 in the latest (fifth) edition of the AWS Brazing Handbook) (released in late 2007), wrote the section entitled "Diffusion Brazing" for the ASM Handbook (Vol. 6), and was a brazing reviewer for Vol.4 ("Metals and Their Weldability") of the AWS Welding Handbook. Was editor-in-chief of The Nicrobraz News, a technical brazing newsletter, which
he authored, which reached a worldwide circulation of over 4000. Dan has run his own brazing
consulting business since 1995.
Background and Capabilities:
Brazing Training -- have conducted intensive brazing-engineering
training seminars for more than 30-years. Presently conduct many 2-4 day training seminars around the
U.S., Canada, and Mexico, consisting of regionalized general brazing seminars, as well as intensive
in-house specialized training seminars for individual companies. Conducted semi-annual
3-day furnace brazing seminars in Detroit for Wall Colmonoy for many years alongside of Robert Peaslee,
as well as many 1-3
day seminars for companies worldwide (including Singapore, Japan, Korea, Taiwan,
Great Britain, Netherlands, and Brussels). Taught the ASM Brazing Fundamentals course
in Materials Park, Ohio for several years. Additionally, taught 3-day torch brazing seminars
several times each year for more than 7-years while at Handy & Harman.
Consultant -- visit many companies each year, defining solutions
to their brazing and metals-joining problems.
Communicator -- speak several times each year before trade, civic,
and church groups, meetings ranging in size up to several thousand people.
